Manic Games has revealed plans to launch a Kickstarter for a table game adaptation The Academy Umbrella. Today early, the board games editor revealed a first look at the next The Umbrella Academy: the board game, that will have a Kickstarter crowdfunding game at the end of this year. The game is based on the award-winning series of graphic novels of Gerard Way and Gabriel Ba and will see 1-5 players work together to try to prevent apocalypse. The new game will be designed by River Horse Games, an award-winning designer who has previously worked on adaptations of table games of the dark glass, the Pacific coast, and Terminator. Some other details are provided, but the game will use a combination of combat of miniatures and mechanics of cards.

As part of the preview, Manic Games revealed a first look at several miniatures of the game, including Spacey and Number Five. In particular, the thumbnails (which are below) use the designs of the comic instead of the popular adaptation of Netflix.

Manic Games has a solid trajectory in the adaptation of several franchises of comics to board games. Bellboy: The board game is considered one of the best adaptations of comic book board games. Manic Games previously published a set of miniature skirmishes based on living dead, with seven arches of different stories full of thumbnails launched over a period of six years. Manic announced earlier this year that he was finishing his line of The undead, miniature products in March.

The Umbrella Academy was launched for the first time as a series of Dark Horse comics in 2007. To date, three volumes of the series of comics have been launched over 15 years. A fourth volume is also planned, but a launch date has not yet been announced. In particular, the adaptation of Netflix TV of comics plans to use the villains announced from the fourth unpublished volume at its next third season, which suggests that we could see more.
